The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation (OSI) has launched an investigation into the death of Nadine Osuch. Ms. Osuch died on July 15, 2025, following a motor vehicle incident in Caledonia, Livingston County, involving an off-duty New York State Park Police officer.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred at approximately 7:43 p.m. Ms. Osuch was crossing Main Street in Caledonia when she was struck by the officer’s personal vehicle as he drove north on Main Street. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Under New York State Executive Law Section 70-b, OSI evaluates incidents where a police or peace officer may have caused a person’s death through action or omission. This law applies regardless of whether the officer is on-duty or off-duty and irrespective of whether the deceased was armed or unarmed, in custody, or incarcerated. If OSI determines that an officer might have been responsible for the death, it conducts a full investigation.
