New York Attorney General Letitia James has expressed her approval following a U.S. District Court judge’s decision to uphold birthright citizenship nationwide.

“As we have repeatedly said, birthright citizenship is the law of the land. The Constitution is more than just mere words on parchment, it reflects our values. All children born on these shores are citizens bound to be respected under the law,” stated Attorney General James.

Earlier this year, on January 21, Attorney General James and 18 other attorneys general initiated legal action against the president’s executive order aimed at ending birthright citizenship. The court’s recent ruling by Judge Leo Sorokin supports their stance by maintaining a preliminary injunction that prevents the order from being implemented across the country.
