New York Attorney General Letitia James has called on DoorDash delivery workers to file claims for funds from a $16.75 million settlement by September 30, 2025. This follows an investigation by the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) that found DoorDash had misled consumers and delivery workers, known as Dashers, by using tips intended for them to subsidize their guaranteed pay.

Attorney General James stated, “New York’s delivery workers are integral to our communities, working tirelessly to bring food and other essentials directly to our doorsteps in all conditions.” She added her commitment to ensuring these workers receive their due treatment, benefits, and wages.

The settlement requires DoorDash to revise its payment practices and enhance transparency for both customers and Dashers. Those eligible include delivery workers who delivered for DoorDash in New York between May 2017 and September 2019 and had tips applied to their guaranteed pay. These individuals have been notified of their eligibility via mail, email, or text by Atticus Administration.

The OAG investigation revealed that DoorDash used a pay model where customer tips were used to subsidize guaranteed pay rather than being given on top of it. This practice was not clearly disclosed to customers or Dashers, despite messages at checkout stating “Dashers will always receive 100 percent of the tip.”

Approximately 63,000 delivery workers are eligible for compensation from this settlement. Those experiencing issues with filing claims should contact Atticus Administration directly. Further inquiries can be directed to 1-800-270-1039 or info@NYDoorDashSettlement.com. More details are available on the OAG’s website.
