Blast Off Media Inc. has filed a lawsuit against Downtown Music Capital, LLC, Downtown Music LLC, and Downtown Music Holdings LLC in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. The complaint alleges that the defendants intentionally destroyed Blast Off’s independent music business to escape a financially disadvantageous YouTube Monetization Agreement. The suit claims that after inducing Blast Off into an agreement with promises of superior YouTube relationships and compliance management, the defendants terminated the contract without cause and froze revenue payments owed to Blast Off. This termination allegedly occurred shortly after Blast Off’s catalog experienced significant growth. The lawsuit seeks damages for fraudulent inducement, breach of contract, unjust enrichment, conversion, tortious interference with business relations, and requests injunctive relief.
