Corey Robert Dodge, also known as Cakesbaylor, from Buffalo, New York, has been sentenced to 41 months in prison for possessing unauthorized access devices with the intent to defraud and possession with intent to distribute cocaine. U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. handed down the sentence and ordered Dodge to forfeit $27,000 earned from his criminal activities.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles M. Kruly explained that since August 2018, the FBI had been investigating Genesis Market, an illicit online marketplace selling stolen data obtained from malware-infected computers globally. Purchases on Genesis Market were made using virtual currency like bitcoin.

Between March 26, 2020, and May 30, 2021, Dodge acquired 14 packages containing stolen account credentials for services such as Paypal, Tracfone, eBay, Amazon, FedEx, Etsy, Walmart, Chase Bank, Venmo, and eTrade via Genesis Market. On April 3, 2023, a search warrant was executed at Dodge’s residence by the FBI seeking evidence of his involvement with Genesis Marketplace. During this search operation quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, MDMA (Ecstasy), ketamine and drug paraphernalia were found and seized.

The investigation was carried out by the Federal Bureau of Investigation led by Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia along with assistance from the Buffalo Police Department under Commissioner Alphonso Wright’s leadership.
