U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced the arrest of Daniel Gregory, 33, from Clarence, NY. Gregory faces charges of online enticement of a minor, which carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Evan K. Glaberson is handling the case. According to the complaint, on January 6, 2025, North Tonawanda Police Department discovered that someone named “Daniel Gregory” was sending messages on Facebook asking for connections with teenagers aged 13-16. Detectives traced these messages back to Gregory.
On January 9, an undercover officer created a Facebook profile under the name “Alexis Jones” and sent Gregory a friend request, which he accepted. Gregory then began messaging “Alexis Jones,” believing her to be 12 years old. He attempted video calls and sent explicit photos to the undercover account. The conversations included sexual content.
Gregory arranged to meet “Alexis Jones” on February 3 at an apartment in Tonawanda for sexual activity but was arrested by North Tonawanda detectives upon arrival. His cell phone was seized.
In May 2019, Gregory had been convicted of Harassment in the Second Degree for contacting a minor on social media and attempting to pursue a romantic relationship over two years.
Gregory appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy and remains in New York State custody while facing attempted rape charges in Niagara County related to this case.
The investigation involved the North Tonawanda Police Department led by Chief Keith Glass and Homeland Security Investigations under Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan.
“The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.”
