Willie Green, a 42-year-old resident of Albany, has been sentenced to 63 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. This was announced by United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and Bryan Miller, Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
Green had previously pled guilty to possessing a loaded pistol on January 1, 2022, in Albany. His prior felony conviction barred him from possessing firearms. His criminal record includes a murder conviction in 2024 secured by the Albany County District Attorney’s Office. The new sentence will run consecutively to his existing 25 years-to-life sentence for the murder charge.
United States Attorney Sarcone commented: “Willie Green cannot serve enough prison time for the crimes he’s committed. He should never get out, and if he is granted parole by New York State, he will be immediately taken to federal prison to start serving his term of imprisonment in this case. Albany is safer if this murderer stays locked up for good.”
Bryan Miller from ATF stated: “This sentence reflects our unwavering commitment to holding violent offenders accountable—especially those who continue to possess firearms despite felony convictions. This individual not only admitted to carrying a loaded firearm illegally, but he is also serving a 25-to-life sentence for murder. His actions represent the very threat to public safety that ATF and our law enforcement partners work tirelessly to prevent. Thank you to our partners at Albany PD and U.S. Attorney’s Office NDNY for their efforts.”
Senior United States District Judge Frederick J. Scullin, Jr., also imposed a three-year term of supervised release upon Green’s release from federal prison.
The case was investigated by ATF with assistance from the Albany Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikayla Espinosa under Project Safe Neighborhoods.
