A Dutchess County man has been charged with the sexual exploitation of a minor following an investigation by federal authorities. Daniel Alan Monarchi, 26, was arrested and presented before U.S. Magistrate Judge Andrew E. Krause in White Plains federal court on August 22, 2025.

United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Jay Clayton stated, “Sexual exploitation of children is too prevalent in our society. Parents, caregivers, and teachers: if you sense something wrong, please seek assistance. Sexual exploitation of children by teachers and others we entrust must be stopped.”

FBI Assistant Director in Charge Christopher G. Raia said, “We entrust teachers with the responsibility of helping to care for our children and not harm them by engaging in sexual exploitation of minors. Daniel Monarchi, a special education teacher, allegedly conducted multiple sexually explicit conversations with victims he knew to be minors. The FBI will continue to bring to justice any individual who endangers minor victims with sexually explicit behavior and actions.”

According to the complaint filed on August 19, Monarchi worked as a special education teacher at a middle school identified as School-1 in Dutchess County. The complaint alleges that Monarchi used the Discord account “mrteacherman” to contact several minors between September 2024 and February 2025.

One victim, aged 14 at the time, reported that “mrteacherman” initiated sexual conversations over Discord, asked her to send sexually explicit videos, and sent images including a selfie and another photo displaying his genitals. Another victim, aged 13, reported similar contact from “mrteacherman,” including receiving photos of his penis and videos of him masturbating throughout the day and night. A third victim also reported inappropriate communications before blocking the account.

The complaint states that Monarchi’s name appears on School-1’s public staff directory as a special education teacher and that images sent matched both his likeness in state motor vehicle records and the exterior of School-1.

Authorities believe there may be additional victims connected to this conduct. Anyone with information or who had contact with the Discord account “mrteacherman” is urged to contact the FBI through its toll-free Tip Line at 1-800-CALL-FBI or online at https://tips.fbi.gov.

Monarchi faces one count of sexual exploitation of a minor. This charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum sentence of 30 years if convicted; sentencing will ultimately be determined by the judge.

U.S. Attorney Clayton commended the work of multiple law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation: “Mr. Clayton praised the efforts of the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, the New York State Police, and the FBI Columbia, South Carolina Division.” The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patricia M. Reville from the Office’s White Plains Division.

As noted in official documents related to this case, all facts described are allegations until proven otherwise.
