Segundo Juan Maynato-Guaman, a 46-year-old citizen of Ecuador, has pleaded guilty to the charge of re-entry of a removed alien in federal court in Rochester, New York. U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Maynato-Guaman was sentenced to time served and subsequently transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.

The case began when Rochester Border Patrol Agents stopped Maynato-Guaman’s vehicle at the intersection of Brockport-Spencerport Road and Washington Street on June 25, 2025. During the stop, he identified himself as a citizen of Ecuador and presented a New York State identification card under the name Segundo Mainato-Guaman. When asked about his immigration status, Maynato-Guaman stated, “yes, I do not have any documents.” A records check revealed that he had been physically removed from the United States in December 2009.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas M. Testani prosecuted the case before U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr.

According to the Department of Justice, this prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and targeting transnational criminal organizations.

“This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime,” according to information provided by federal authorities.
