A federal jury has found Trenton Grant, 31, of Jamestown, New York, guilty on multiple drug and gun charges. The verdict was announced by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo. Grant was convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine; possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes; and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. These charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison and could result in up to life imprisonment.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Johsua A. Violanti and Stacey Jacovetti prosecuted the case. According to their statements, the Olean Police Department began investigating Grant’s suspected drug activities in May 2023. On July 25, 2023, police executed search warrants on his vehicle and person. They recovered approximately 71 grams of methamphetamine, five grams of cocaine, four grams of fentanyl, as well as a loaded firearm and ammunition from the trunk of Grant’s vehicle. Authorities later determined that the firearm had been reported stolen.
At the time he was arrested, Grant was on parole for a prior felony conviction from February 2016 for assault with intent to cause serious injury with a weapon. Because of this previous conviction, he was legally barred from possessing any firearms.
The investigation involved cooperation between the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New York Field Division and the Olean Police Department.
Sentencing is set for February 4, 2026 before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr., who presided over the trial.
