A former teacher from the Rochester area, Kevin Burns, 45, has been sentenced to 54 months in prison for possessing child pornography involving a prepubescent minor. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Meredith A. Vacca, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Katelyn M. Hartford said that authorities executed a search warrant at Burns’ residence in Irondequoit on November 5, 2024, after he uploaded a child pornography file to Bing Image. During the search, law enforcement seized electronic devices, including a computer containing more than 450 images of child pornography. Some of these images depicted violence against children and the sexual exploitation of infants or toddlers.

The investigation was conducted by the New York State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
