U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo has announced that Kevin Burns, a 45-year-old resident of Irondequoit, New York, has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography involving a prepubescent minor. The charge carries a potential maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Katelyn M. Hartford, who is overseeing the case, detailed that the New York State Police executed a search warrant at Burns’ residence on November 5, 2024. This action was prompted by his upload of a child pornography file to Bing Image. During the search, electronic devices were confiscated, including a computer containing over 450 images of child pornography. Some images depicted violence against children and the sexual exploitation of infants or toddlers.

The investigation leading to this plea was conducted by the New York State Police under Major Kevin Sucher and the Federal Bureau of Investigation led by Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Mark Grimm.

Burns is scheduled for sentencing on October 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., presided over by U.S. District Judge Meredith A. Vacca.
