U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Gendry Amilcar Niz-Niz, a 25-year-old Guatemalan national, has pleaded guilty to making a false statement in court. The plea was entered before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr., who sentenced Niz-Niz to time served and handed him over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Sasha Mascarenhas reported that the incident occurred on March 16, 2025, during a traffic stop where Niz-Niz provided law enforcement with a name and identification card that did not match his true identity. His real identity was confirmed through fingerprint analysis and immigration checks conducted during the stop.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and safeguarding communities from violent crime.

The investigation leading to the plea and sentencing was carried out by the Lockport Police Department under Chief Steven Abbott’s direction and the U.S. Border Patrol led by Patrol Agent-in-Charge Martin B. Coombs.
