U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Dimas Bonerge Aguilar Medina, a 27-year-old citizen of Honduras, has pleaded guilty to illegal re-entry into the United States. Aguilar Medina was sentenced to time served and subsequently handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Fauzia K. Mattingly explained that Aguilar Medina had no legal status in the country. He was deported from the United States in January 2016 but was discovered again on April 13, 2025, in Erie County as a passenger in a vehicle stopped by the Erie County Sheriff’s Department. At the time of his apprehension, he lacked documentation permitting him lawful presence in the U.S.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, which aims to combat illegal immigration and eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations while safeguarding communities from violent crime perpetrators.

The investigation leading to Aguilar Medina’s plea and sentencing was conducted by the Erie County Sheriff’s Department under Sheriff John Garcia and U.S. Border Patrol led by Patrol Agent in Charge Martin B. Coombs.
