A Jamestown resident, Raymond Medina, has been sentenced to 48 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo and the sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.
The case, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Donna M. Duncan, stems from an incident on February 28, 2024. On that evening, Jamestown Police responded to a domestic incident at a residence where there was a valid order of protection against Medina. Upon arrival, officers observed Medina leaving the premises.
According to Duncan, when an officer attempted to engage with Medina, he became argumentative and began backing away. Despite being advised to stop, Medina refused and shouted “I don’t got nothing bro,” while appearing to reach for his waistband before fleeing on foot.
Officers pursued Medina but initial attempts using a taser were unsuccessful. A perimeter was established and officers tracked him using footprints in the snow along with assistance from a K-9 unit. Medina was eventually found hiding behind a shed and taken into custody without further resistance.
During the pursuit route investigation, officers recovered methamphetamine packaged for individual sale.
The sentencing follows an investigation conducted by the Jamestown Police Department under Chief Timothy Jackson’s direction and the Drug Enforcement Administration led by Special Agent-in-Charge Frank A. Tarentino III of the New York Field Division.
