U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Da’Ron Lipscomb, 33, from Lancaster, NY, has been sentenced to six months in prison. Lipscomb was convicted of high-speed flight from an immigration checkpoint and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles M. Kruly, who managed the case, provided details of the incident which occurred on June 26, 2024. Lipscomb was driving a vehicle that reached the primary inspection booth at the Peace Bridge Port of Entry in Buffalo. At this point, a Customs and Border Protection officer directed him to report for secondary inspection. However, instead of complying, Lipscomb drove through the Peace Bridge Port of Entry and onto the I-190 highway at speeds exceeding the limit while being pursued by marked CBP vehicles until he lost control and crashed his vehicle.

The investigation leading to this sentencing was conducted by Customs and Border Protection under the leadership of Director of Field Operations Rose Brophy.
