Alexander Grupp, a 33-year-old resident of Lancaster, New York, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for receiving child pornography. He will also serve 10 years of supervised release following his incarceration. The sentence was handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford.

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced the sentencing on Tuesday.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Franz M. Wright stated that Grupp had previously been convicted in March 2018 in New York State Court for possessing obscene sexual performance by a child under sixteen and was given a sentence that included 10 years’ probation at that time.

In October 2022, according to the prosecution, Grupp used the instant messaging platform Discord to communicate with a 15-year-old girl and persuaded her to send nude photographs of herself.

“The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Philip Tejera,” according to the statement from authorities.
