U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that William A. Quinones, a 51-year-old resident of Mayville, NY, has been sentenced to life in prison. Quinones was convicted by a federal jury for the transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity and sex trafficking of a minor. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Aaron J. Mango and Franz M. Wright led the prosecution of the case. They reported that in July 2021, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about Quinones sexually abusing two children over eight years. An investigation revealed four minor victims in total.

During interviews with investigators, the victims disclosed that Quinones raped or attempted to rape them and sexually abused them while threatening violence or harm to their families if they spoke out about his actions.

One victim stated that Quinones had regular sexual contact with her from age eight and began paying her for sexual contact when she was 13 until she turned 16 years old. On one occasion, he took her to Erie, PA, ostensibly to pick up drugs but stopped at a motel on their return journey for sexual intercourse.

The investigation leading to this sentencing involved Homeland Security Investigations under Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff James Quattrone.
