A visually-impaired woman has taken legal action against a dental studio, alleging its website is inaccessible to blind users. Erika Alexandria filed a class-action complaint on November 26, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York against Central Park West Dental Studio, PLLC. The lawsuit claims that the dental studio’s website fails to accommodate screen-reading software used by blind individuals, thereby violating the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

According to the complaint, Alexandria, who resides in New York County and is legally blind, attempted multiple times to access Central Park West Dental Studio’s website to book a dental check-up appointment but encountered significant barriers. These barriers included missing alt-text for images, improperly labeled interactive elements, and broken links that hindered her ability to navigate the site using her screen reader software. As a result of these accessibility issues, Alexandria was unable to complete her intended transaction and was denied equal access to the services offered by the defendant.

The lawsuit highlights that under both federal ADA regulations and New York City Human Rights Law (NYCHRL), public accommodations such as websites must be accessible to individuals with disabilities. The plaintiff argues that Central Park West Dental Studio has failed to meet these legal obligations by not ensuring its website complies with established Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standards. These guidelines are widely recognized as benchmarks for making digital content accessible to people with visual impairments.

Alexandria seeks a permanent injunction requiring Central Park West Dental Studio to modify its website policies and practices so that it becomes fully accessible and usable by blind consumers. Additionally, she requests compensatory damages for herself and other similarly affected individuals within New York City who have been denied equal access due to these alleged violations.

Representing Alexandria in this case is attorney Rami Salim from Stein Saks, PLLC. The case has been assigned Case No.: 25-9856 in front of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
