Plaintiff alleges former employer Screen International Security Services violated labor laws

Juan Angel has filed a lawsuit against his former employer, alleging severe violations of labor laws that could resonate with many workers facing similar challenges. On February 15, 2026, Juan Angel lodged a complaint in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York against Screen International Security Services, Ltd., accusing them of withholding wages and retaliating against him for raising concerns.

The case revolves around Angel’s employment with Screen International Security Services (SISS), where he worked from 2016 until December 5, 2025. His primary duties involved chauffeuring high-profile clients and providing security services. However, Angel claims that SISS engaged in systematic practices to underpay him by manipulating his work hours and pay rates. The complaint outlines various tactics used by SISS to avoid paying overtime, such as shifting Angel to a fixed “day rate” without overtime compensation for assignments exceeding 40 hours per week. Additionally, SISS allegedly failed to compensate Angel for time spent on duty between picking up company vehicles and arriving at client locations.

Angel’s allegations extend beyond wage violations; he accuses SISS of retaliation after he repeatedly complained about unpaid wages. According to the complaint, Angel faced adverse actions such as pay stagnation and reassignment to lower-value work after voicing his concerns. He contends that these actions were intended to dissuade him from further complaints and ultimately led to his termination in December 2025.

The lawsuit cites multiple causes of action under both federal and state laws. These include violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) for failing to pay overtime wages and retaliation under FLSA’s anti-retaliation provision. Similarly, it alleges breaches of New York Labor Law (NYLL) concerning unpaid wages and retaliation for protected activities.

Angel seeks judgment in his favor on all causes of action, requesting compensation for lost wages, back pay, front pay, compensatory damages, liquidated damages, attorney’s fees, statutory damages, punitive damages, costs, disbursements, pre- and post-award interest. The plaintiff demands a jury trial to address these grievances.

Representing Juan Angel is Scott A. Lucas from the Law Offices of Scott A. Lucas based in Harrison, New York. The case has been assigned Case ID 26-cv-1276 in the Southern District of New York court.
