U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton said on March 9 that a Manhattan jury found Alon, Oren, and Tal Alexander guilty of multiple federal sex offenses, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking. The verdict followed a weekslong trial where evidence and testimony from eleven victims showed the brothers conspired to lure, drug, and rape young women.

Clayton said the case highlights the ongoing problem of federal sex offenses in society and the need for more action to address these crimes. “Federal sex offenses are all too prevalent in our society and all too often go unreported and unpunished. The truth is sex trafficking and other federal sex offenses are present in many walks of life and we have not done enough to root it out,” Clayton said.

He described the abuse as “disgusting, scarring, and should not be tolerated” and commended both the victims for their courage in testifying and the jury for their dedication during the trial. “The jury saw the Alexander’s conduct for what it was—calculated, brutal sexual abuse that, unimaginably, the defendants celebrated,” he said.

Clayton also acknowledged law enforcement partners who worked on the case. He thanked members of his office’s Civil Rights and Human Trafficking Unit as well as colleagues at the FBI-NYPD Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force for their efforts.

He concluded by encouraging anyone who has been a victim or suspects such conduct to contact authorities: “If you have been the victim of sexual abuse, or believe you have seen evidence of sexual abuse, please contactthe FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.”
