United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Jay Clayton, and Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Ricky J. Patel, have released a statement regarding the verdict in the case of U.S. v. Sean Combs.

“Sex crimes deeply scar victims, and the disturbing reality is that sex crimes are all too present in many aspects of our society,” said Clayton and Patel. They emphasized that victims suffer severe physical and mental abuse, which leads to long-lasting trauma. “New Yorkers and all Americans want this scourge stopped and perpetrators brought to justice.”

The officials highlighted the necessity for victims to come forward with their experiences for effective prosecution of such crimes. They acknowledged the difficulties faced by victims and stated that a victim-centered approach is prioritized in investigating and prosecuting these cases.

They expressed appreciation for the efforts made by various teams involved in tackling human trafficking, including the SDNY’s Civil Rights Unit, HSI agents, and other partners like the NYPD. “We thank the Special Agents from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York, Digital Forensic Unit and the Complex Analytics and Social Media Enhancement (CASE) Team at the New York/New Jersey High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area,” they added.

The statement underscores collaboration among different law enforcement agencies to address sex crimes effectively.
